So... finally my first work injury.

Was using a beef cutting knife to cut a woman's order of roast beef, and for once, the knife slipped out of the round. Not only did the knife miss the knife guard i had, it went right over it and into my knuckles, barely touching them yet cutting instantly to the bone. Luckily, it didn't cut any tendons, so my hand will be fine, but damn do these stitches suck. Not only can i no longer type quickly, i can't play very many games for a while. Being that 80% of my downtime when im not at work, school, with the gf, or doing homework is spent on video games, this drastically affects my life. And my latest addiction to League of Legends cannot be sated because of the need of my left hand for the casting of spells effectively. So either i play with slow spell casts and probably ruin my win/loss ratio (not that it really matters, but its nice to finally have it positive), or i simply dont play.

Well, heres to a very negative win/loss count =D

Anyone else have any work related injuries happen to them?

Ouch, i did something similar when i was younger, my dad had just finished building me and my brothers a go-kart, and after about an hour of driving it around, the exhaust had fallen off. Well, i found it and instantly picked it up off of the ground, burning a large portion of my hand, but it was soo long ago that you couldn't tell i had ever burned it.

Also, i play LoL with you derp. =D me, you, and Caro used to play, though recently i haven't seen you and Caro on much, nor have i played with you in a while.

As another also, i have pictures of the wounds before the stitches (its kind of a battle scar thing me and my brothers have going on whenever we get wounds) but im too lazy to upload them to my computer, then sign up for an image hosting site, then try to post it here. I may get around to it someday, but not anytime soon.

The last summer I had a hand injury, too. I was using some shears to clean a vacuum (cuz the threads get stuck in the rotating brush) and it slipped, going into the side of my hand b/w index finger and thumb, but a bit closer to thumb. I don't feel anything, but I think "crap, this is gonna ruin the carpet" just as blood spurts out of it. I ran over to the kitchen and made a tourniquet out of a towel, then passed out after a minute of bleeding.

I find out later that I had severed the main artery in my thumb. The hole going into the crook of my hand was an inch deep and half an inch wide, and the doctor who stitched me up put his pinky inside before cleaning and stitching.

This one was more recent.

While working at PLACE, I was asked to clean the mens bathroom, since there only three guys working that day and as a seasnol, I had the honor of doing the deed. I spent 20 minutes cleaning cloggs, using the plunger, and picking up TP. I was reaching for one stuck behind the toliet when my foot slipped and I fell.

I hit my left cheekbone on the base, brusing it ( not by much though ) and my face landed in something wet. As soon as I finshed I went to my boss, told him what happened, and immediatly went home.

I konw this wasn't  much of a job injury, but since PLACE was the only job I've had, it's all I got.

Ah yes, "signatures" . The slew of brightly colored banners displaying an individual's preferences, allegedly placed beneath one's posts. We have dismissed that claim.

Lol. not an injury per se, but I had the most boxes fall on me arbitrarily at wal-mart. I've broken 4 pairs of glasses over 7 incidents where unstable boxes stacked on shelves happened to fall over just when I was under them. It kinda became a joke, and my boss got me a hard hat.

Woot!

I'm really lucky because i only had a few injuries in my life and, before this year, i never really was sick. When I was 15, in a summer camp, my officer asked me if the oil lamp was still hot. It was 3 am and I was so exhausted. I didn't think about it and i put my hand on top of the lamp. I had a round burn on my right hand for about a year and than it dissapear. I also have a small burn one my wrist that comes from my early tries of ironing clothes. on the same arm, i burned myself on my small oven. I hardly felt anything but i had a big pink spot. Now it's only two red lines lol. I find them cool.

Oh, and I feel weak when i see blood or think about blood lol

Actually, i already am. Today was my first day back to work, and the very first thing that happened (besides my co-workers being assholes about me cutting my hand open) was me being forced to cut roast beef for people. It made me angry, but at the same time, there wasnt anything i could do about it. I wasn't afraid of the knife or anything, but i swear everytime the knife got close to where i had the guard, i felt as if it was going to hit me in the knuckles again. After a while the feeling faded, but it was still annoying.

Three or four years ago I was playing with my younger bother and mother. We were chasing here pretending to be crazy and steal her ice cream, and she was running around the pool, jumping the bushes and shit like that. Our back door is basically a glass pane inbetween a few pieces of wood. She rain inside, turned around, and slamed the door shut on me.

I went through that son of a bitch like it was paper.

You know how people always jump through windows and shit in the movies, never a cut on 'em?

Its fake.

Damn near sliced the veins in my arm, right down from the tip of my wrist to the edge of my elbow. Ripped a chunk out of my right palm (stll discolored a little there) and basiclaly cut to the bone on my right elbow. Hell it wasn't even that painful, it just scared the hell out of me. Took an hour to clean the blood up, i was takin all kinds of baidaids and patchin myself up. Mother is a nurse so she knew what to do.

About a week later it occured to me that i should have gone in for stiches, so we did.

Doc said i no longer needed 'em, healed fantastically on my own. Saved us a bundle.
